Galen Catholic College is located in the Regional Victorian town of Wangaratta, about 3 hrs North East of Melbourne.

Our school became involved in VEX Robotics in August 2016, as a way to engage students in STEM, we have two VEX robotics programs running at Galen

An extra curricula VEX Robotics program, with students meeting at lunchtimes, after school and sometimes during weekends and holidays.

In 2018 we extended VEX Robotics program into year 9 elective units. we have a LEGO mindstorms program unit running in year 8 electives.

Our journey to the 2018 VEX Worlds, was  rapid and unexpected, this is due to our amazing and passionate students, who have taught themselves about VEX robot design, programming through perseverance, tenacity and teamwork.  Each student has bough their own unique skill set to the VEX program.

In 2018  the program was extended to five teams included two new junior VEX IQ teams. These students absorbed the knowledge and wisdom from the senior students involved in the program. The new students inspired by the older students adventures at VEX Worlds 2018, set high aims and goals and through determination and acting on advice given they were able to achieve the highest possible accolade at Australian VEX Nationals 2018 by winning the coveted Excellence Award and the Robot Skills Award.

They are extremely exciting as they now find themselves off to the VEX Worlds 2019. They hope to be able to continue the story of the 2018 Galen VEX Worlds team as documented by VEX Worlds Media Team:
